Congratulations to all designers who participated in the inaugural Miromoda Fashion Design Awards in Wellington on Saturday!
To our winners and runners up - start preparing for the Miromoda showcase at Air New Zealand Fashion Week in September. Here are the names of this years winning designers:
* Established Designer Winner: Wiremu Barriball (Titahi Bay); Runner up: Kirsha Whitcher (Hastings).
* Emerging Designer Winner: Kiri Nathan (Auckland); Runner up: Samara Vercoe (Nelson).
* Haute Couture Designer Winner: Keri Wanoa (Waitara); Runner up: Tutina Pasene (Otaki).
* T-Shirt Placement Winner: Shane Hansen (Auckland); Runner up: Bianca Walford-Collier (Wellington).
* Miromoda Overall Winner: Wiremu Barriball
Wiremu travelled to Toronto to show his collection at the Planet IndigenUs Festival in August.

By his own admission, Simon Bridges, MP for Tauranga pre warned his audience he was about to perform a “fairly bad version of a Superman stint.” But slinking out of his suit jacket, asking the music be turned up while he slung off his tie and unbuttoned his shirt was in good taste, for a good cause and amusing entertainment.
